Good afternoon I.C. parents,

I hope your weekend has been restful and dry so far:) I wanted to reach out to you about the school wide Science fair. I have spoken to some of you parents about the science project and have decided, if your child would like to DO another Science project for the school wide fair I will offer extra credit. If not, I will count the Science lesson that was turned in on Friday, January 6 as the Science experiment. The school wide science fair project will be due Friday, January 27. I will grade the science project with the same rubric.  One more thing, I sent home, with your child, the rubric for the Science lesson. All the children did wonderful on their projects. I am very proud of my first, second and third grade class! If your child has not turned in their Science lesson please help them to do so as soon as possible.

This engineering class was so much fun! We have marshmallow EVERYWHERE!!! We ran short on time so I have decided to do it again this week. The children now know what to expect with the weight of marshmallows and needing reinforcements to help stabilize a structure. I will be working on this further into the week. Photos to come.

There will be no school Monday, January 16 in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. birthday. I will still be assigning homework packets, reading log, spelling quiz and vocabulary (3rd. only) for this week. I have attached the homework packet and spelling words down below.

The children will also be STAR testing this week. Please send them to school with a healthy breakfast and a good night’s rest.   No tardy or absences this week, if possible. Thank you.

Have a blessed week,
Mrs. Avitia
