Welcome Back First and Second Grade Families!!
I hope your Christmas and New Year holiday was a blessed one. Since we come back to school on a short week I will not be assigning any homework, spelling quizzes or reading logs this week. I want the children to transition calmly back into our usual routine. Next week I will be assigning a spelling quiz, reading log and a homework packet due next Friday.
I hope all the children had fun working on their Science project. The Science projects are due Friday, January 5. However, If your child has completed the project early they can present as early as tomorrow, if they feel that they are prepared. It is up to you and your child.
This Friday is the celebration of The Epiphany, The arrival of our Three Wise Kings (The visit of the Magi) to the Christ child. I ordered Rosca de Reyes bread/cake for the children on Friday. If anyone would like to donate apple or grape juice (1- 2 litter bottle or 17+ boxes) that would be wonderful, contact me, thank you.
We will also have Mass on Friday morning at 8:00 AM, please have the children in mass uniform and on time for church.
I hope the children have been telling you all about our Engineering class. We made blue prints and built bridges, cars and robots with Legos one week. The week before the holiday break I put them into groups and they made more blue prints and created incredible designs with straws and locks. Next week, I want to have them to work with Spaghetti (pasta) and mini marshmallows. This class is a lot of fun but it is also a lot of work and challenges their creative minds. Engineers’ are hard workers and changing the world around us. They dream up creative and practical solutions for aerospace, electronics and structural engineering . They work with other smart, inspiring people who work together to invent, design, create and solve problems in our world today. I would like to start this lesson next Friday, I need help with donations, if you can help. I need 4 spaghetti (medium/large) bags and 4 bags of mini marshmallows. I will send out pictures of the children’s creation to you next week. Thank you again.
